Episodes

July 1st- Shane Butler & Tom Timmermann

Shane Butler and Tim Timmermann sat down with Mark and Brendan to talk about refereeing and CITY SC. This episode was a very informational and taught me about somethings I didn't know anything about. Brendan and Mark start off by talking to Shane Butler who is a MASL referee. They first start off my talking about where he is doing his refereeing now since he has been a referee for so long. He is a very well known referee and has refereed some very big games. Once they talk about where he is now with his refereeing they go more in depth with his career. They start off by talking about how he got into refereeing and the passion that led to him wanting to become a referee. After that he goes into the evolution of his refereeing career. Once he finishes talking about his career he goes into anything refereeing. He talks about the advice he would give to young referee's, the process it is like to find referees for bigger games like championships, and the awareness they need to have going into a game like if there was some tension from the game before. They also get into the new video system they have for coaches to challenge the call and if it is a good thing. To bring it all together they finish off by talking about fun little things that come with refereeing like if he communicates with players while they are on the field, the physical fitness for a referee, and the best avenues or information if someone wants to get into refereeing. Brendan and Mark also talked to Tom Timmermann the CITY SC writer for the Post Dispatch and all they talked about was CITY stuff. This interview is where you can get all your CITY information for the week. They start off by talking about how CITY 2 has been playing and the success they have been having over these past few months. Then they go into the culture that is within CITY 2 and his take on everything that has been happening with building these teams. After talking about the culture they go into the importance of bringing these international players to the US early and having them adapt to everything here. Once they finished talking about that they go into some CITY 2 players that could be brought up to CITY SC in the spring. After that was done talked about they finish talking about everything CITY either the CITY 2 team, the MLS team or the academy. They also talk a little about the CITY SC head coach and how the facilities are looking. I learned so many things from listening to this episode so if you need to be informed about some things listen to this.

June 24th- Lutz Pfannenstiel & Dale Schilly

Lutz Pfannenstiel and Dale Schilly sat down with Mark and Brendan to talk about St. Louis CITY. This episode is all about CITY either on City 2 or the City SC. Lutz Pfannenstiel Sporting Director of St. Louis City talked with Mark and Brendan about anything St. Louis CITY. They started off talking about the boys academy teams that are down at the MLSNEXT playoffs in Dallas, Texas. Lutz then goes into the his thoughts and success for the academy teams since they started last year. Then got more in depth with the academy teams by talking how the boys have adjusted to the style of play they are wanting them to play, how Lutz recruits for these teams by telling them the things he looks within a player, and the things he has learned from scouting for these academy teams. Not only do they talk about the academy team Lutz also talks about the difference between American and international players. He also goes into the schedule of how things are getting complete within this franchise and if they are ahead of schedule or not. To bring it all together he goes into CITY's resilience and how impressed he is of how successful this team has been. Then to really bring it all together he goes into of the evaluation of the team and what it will be like next year. Dale Shilly Academy Director for St. Louis City SC talked with Mark and Brendan about the St. Louis City academy teams. Like I said above the u16 and u17 teams are competing at the MLSNEXT playoffs in Texas. Both teams have been really successful this past weekend there. Dale talks about the success they have been having and how the teams were able to get through the next round of the MLSNEXT. This is a big accomplishment for both teams for only having these teams up and running for only a year. Dale then goes into the when the games will be for the next round and the teams both of them will be playing. Once he is done talking about the team as a whole he goes into the players as individuals. He talks about the progress these kids are having, how CITY 2 has played a role for these younger kids, and the perseverance of these kids. To finalize it all Dale goes into what the tournament will look like if the boys keep winning and how they prepared for the heat of Dallas.

June 17th- Dennis Moore

Dennis Moore the Chief Revenue Officer for St. Louis City SC sat down with Mark and Brendan to talk about the new MLS TV deal with Apple TV. This is a huge media rights deal the MLS is making with Apple TV. This deal took years and years to plan but they were able to get it finalized at such a perfect time with STL just now getting a MLS team. Having this platform for the MLS will help build the fan base here in STL. Dennis starts off with his thoughts on this new deal and the background of it. He goes really in depth about how this media rights platform came about and the things it took to get this deal. It is a historic deal in professional soccer. Not only does he share his thoughts about the deal but also what the deal is and basically what the package consists of. The things you need to do to be able to watch these games on Apple TV. To me it sounds like it is easy and very affordable to be able to watch these games when they start being broadcasted on this platform. They also talk about the structure of how the games will be broadcast when they are put on Apple TV. The season ticket holders have some opportunities with this new TV and Moore talks a little on that and explains a few of those opportunities. He also talks about the importance of this new TV deal. There is also a feature that Moore talks about and hopes that people will use it when they watching the MLS games on this new TV platform. To bring it all together Moore talks about the timeline for all the facilities of the STL city and how special this whole process of making this team from the ground up. Finally, Brendan and Mark finish the episode off with talking about the hosts cities for the 2026 Men's World Cup happening in the United States.
